SEDC, a leading provider of software solutions for cooperative and municipal power utilities, received an important recognition for the innovation and impact of its offerings, as a finalist in the Association of Georgia Southeastern Software Association (TAG SSA) 7th Annual Impact Awards. SEDC is one of five finalists named in the technology solutions provider category, which recognizes innovators in the software industry.

“Each year the SSA Impact Awards recognize companies and their teams who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in bringing new technology solutions to the market,” said the TAG SSA announcement.

SEDC’s 2015 achievements include the launch of a powerful suite of tools, IQ Analytics, which address utilities’ need for a central control platform allowing them to blend data coming from operational and business software.

“The launch of the IQ Analytics suite was driven by a need to solve one of the most complex problems facing utilities: how to manage the dramatic increase in data that’s now available from a variety of applications and then make sense of that data. IQ gives them the ability to unlock value from their smart grid investments,” said Riley B. “RB” Sloan, SEDC President and CEO. “We’re honored to see our offering for utilities recognized among a distinguished list of solution providers serving a wide array of industries.”

Today’s utilities often have massive quantities of data generated daily from software systems, including meter data management (MDM), outage management (OMS), geospatial information (GIS), automatic vehicle location (AVL), prepaid metering, customer information (CIS) and even weather forecasting. SEDC’s IQ Analytics builds on the core utilityPOWERnet (UPN) platform for billing, customer information and capital credits, bringing together information from previously unconnected resources, allowing managers to readily detect patterns, identify trends, and gain insights.

SEDC was also named to Metering & Smart Energy International‘s 2015 Global Smart Energy Elites for UPN’s transformative impact on Roanoke Electric Cooperative. SEDC subsidiary Futura Systems was named a 2015 Top Vendor to Watch Award at the Municipal Smart Grid Summit for its IQ product, CatalystIQ.
